I can't figure out what the difference is between a size 6 in girls vs. a size 6x in girls.  Anyone know?  I keep reading different things.  I've tried comparing the two in store, but I still don't know what the difference is.

My daughter wears a 6 right now.  I have to cinch up the waist as far as they will go, but they are getting too short for her.  So are 6x longer or wider or what?  Thanks in advance for the help!

I believe it is wider. I have the smae trouble long legs and small waist. My 8yr old is in 7's the waist is still big and now length is getting short. I only buy her things with adjustable waist.

I very rarely go by the size. My dd can wear anything from a 6, 6X to a 7/8 sometimes 10/12. It all depends on the brand.

Sizes vary widely by brand, but generally, 6x is about 1/2" bigger in the waist and pants are about 1-1/2" longer than size 6.

It's like a plus size 6. Length of a 6 with the waist of a 7.

Hmm... I don't think a 6x is my answer then.  Perhaps I should be looking for Slim Sz 7.  I need the length, but not extra room in the waist.

I have found that sizes vary widely, but buying Slims can work. Michael is tall and skinny, so he needs about a 7 or 8 Slim in the waist, but longer than that for the length.

Look for adjustable waists. My son is so tall and skinny that he can still wear a 5T in waist but is in a 8 in length so I have to make sure it's a 8 slim with an adjustable waist.

I have been fighting this problem ever since my daughter got out of a size five...and it still is a battle...she is skinny...has short legs...

Some 7 slims are too long...some 6's are too short...6x is too big in the waist...

Right now she is so hard to fit...it makes me crazy!!!  She is down to 3 pairs of pants that fit and look good...so I have to wash often...

She has some that "fit"...but, still look sloppy...

I have had the same problem all my life...I have never been an "off the rack" fit...

Sometimes I feel she will be cursed with my body!!!
